The tragedies that befall mankind these days are unimaginable. The tsunamis, the hurricanes, the earthquakes, the incurable diseases, violent thunderstorms, man’s wickedness toward each other in unparalleled acts of brutality, betrayal, etc., are disasters suited for nightmarish dreams.
I have experienced many earthquakes in California and anytime the earth shook under my feet, with swimming pools swinging sideways and splashing out water like gyrating bowls filled with water, all I could mutter is, ‘ka bi o kosi (Kabiyesi) - God cannot be queried’, a mark of total surrender.
Unquestionable testimonies of the visibility of the Invisible however abound because, “worthy is the Lamb that was slain!” The grace of God therefore continues to abound. Nevertheless we cannot continue to take the grace of God for granted. “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?” {Romans 6:1}
The unfolding scenario all over the world present a great opportunity for the church to step in, intercede and take charge. Can we? The gluttonous, maradonic leadership maneuvers in many church leadership all over the world, subjugation of Christ-centered-relationship to man-serving-religiosity, determination of ‘men-of-god’ to transform themselves into perpetual ‘gods of men’, beg the issue and make the task difficult.
All we can pray now is for the Kingdom of God to be ruthlessly established all over the nations of the world, for as long as He tarries, amen. We should also pray that the impertinent hearts of all church leadership at every level yield to the control of the Holy Spirit by force and by fire, amen.
