Leprosy in the biblical days could be compared to some of today’s sicknesses like aids and cancer. It was incurable, except by divine intervention. It was the most feared disease because of its contagious nature.
Leprosy could lead to paralysis, culminating in painful death. Victims of leprosy were often quarantined in lepers’ colony. Lepers were seen as social outcasts. They were isolated, left to die and rot away.
A case study on Gehazi (2Kings 5:20-27) who could have inherited the anointing of Elisha should teach man never to commercialize anointing. Unfortunately greed is already entrenched and enthroned in the hearts of the covetous. To them, immediate reward is preferred to eternal reward. The cycle of unending levies continue with rulers of synagogue as they celebrate milestones of vanity.
"For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.” (Matthew 13:15)
PRAYER POINT "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 36:26)
Lord please take away my heart of stone and replace it with a heart of flesh by the Spirit of God, in Jesus Name, amen.
